Remington's Rundown

Hey Doodle Lovers! It's Remington Bear here!

Something exciting happened this week! I got a baby brother for a day! Here's the story...

So Mom was coming back from lunch on Wednesday and spotted a little ball of fuzz curled up beside the building she works at. At first she thought it was dryer lint. But on further inspection Mom discovered it was a tiny little gray dog!!!

Mom couldn't just leave him there so she had some people at work help her scoop the little guy up. He was scared, tired, and very thin! My Mom and a friend took the dog to PetSmart to see if he was micro-chipped. She really wanted to find his family. She always tells me that she can't imagine losing me and the person who found me not doing everything in their power to reunite us. Sadly, no micro-chip for this little fella. So for the rest of the afternoon the little dog hung out with Mom in her office.

He was very dirty and full of mats! YIKES! I wonder how long he had been out in the elements.

Poor guy was pooped so he took a snooze on Mom's office floor.

What a face! Mom decided to name him Lint since that is what she thought he was when she first saw him :)

Towards the end of the afternoon Mom contacted someone at the University who has a neighborhood email list in hopes of contacting the dogs owner. She didn't think this little guy could have gotten far. Mom decided to bring Lint home for the night to give the owners some time to contact her.

When Mom brought this new dog home I thought I had hit the jack pot! I always kind of wanted a little brother!!!  But Dad told me it was only temporary that Lint was going to stay with us... BUMMER!

Lint was a HOT MESS when he got to our house! His fur was really matted and he had burrs and stuff all stuck in his hair! I felt really bad for him because I know how I feel when I haven't had a bath in a while and that he must feel 10 times worse!

Mom and Dad got to work on him right away. They spent 1-2 hours cutting out all the mats and miscellaneous items from his hair. Mom was upset that she couldn't get EVERYTHING out! Some places were so matted that she wasn't sure if it was a mat or dog part.

This was all the hair Mom and Dad cut off Lint!

Mom and Dad really wanted to give Lint a bath but he was sooooo tired by this point they decided to let him rest.

But first, it was time to get some food in his little belly! Some people at Mom's work donated some small breed dog food for Lint to eat... Lord knows I'm not a small dog so my food wouldn't do.

Eat Lint Eat!!!

Hungry Guy!

I kind of really liked Lint!

As you can see... Lint made himself right at home. Go to sleep Lint, I'll watch over you.

When the next day came no one had contacted Mom about Lint. So Mom went to work in hopes that she could find him a good home. Finally, at the end of the day Dad told me that Lint had found a new home. I was sad to see him go, but knew it was time for him to start his new life with his new family.

Here he is back at Mom's work getting ready to go to his new home!

Safe travels Lint! We'll miss you!

Later that night Mom got some text messages showing her how Lint was doing and how he was liking his new Mom.

I'm pretty certain that Lint won the lottery with this home! Doesn't he look so happy! And we are so happy for you!!!

P.S. Lint is now known as Jackie :)

Thankful Thursday (Gym)

Today I'm thankful for my gym membership. The weather is getting chilly around here and if you know me, I don't do temperatures below 60 degrees. Because of that I have not been wanting to spend much time outside. I more so want to snuggle up in my warm bed... with my fuzzy doodle!

I've been thinking about how I'm going to stay in shape this winter. Usually during this season I gain about 10-15 lbs because I go into hibernation mode (eat & sleep). This year I'm going to strive to use my gym more and not put on that extra poundage.

Awww... nothing beats purple treadmills!

I actually hate running on treadmills with a passion... but in the winter time it is a necessary evil. If I can keep my base running level at around 12-15 miles per week I'll be happy and ready to hit the sidewalks come Spring! Now I just have to stick to that commitment which is a whole different challenge.

Full Speed Ahead!

I told Dan last night that my blog has been so boring lately that I'm probably losing readers. I have been so busy recently that nothing has really happened that has been blog worthy... Let me update you!

At the end of August school started up again! I'm only 2 classes away from being done with my Masters degree! It seems like I've been working toward this for so long that being almost finished doesn't seem possible! Currently, I'm taking an Economics and Aging class which I pretty much think is a waste of time. Not because it isn't important, but more so because I don't feel like we are learning much on the topic. I have discussion forums every week, tests, quizzes, and papers to write so I struggle to stay on top of things when Phonathon is in high gear!

Speaking of Phonathon... that is what rules my life right now. The start of September is when the madness begins! I spend two weeks hiring 30 students, an entire weekend training them, then an entire week working late to make sure everyone understands what they are doing. Then once the calling really gets started I usually stay late at least two nights a week to make sure everything is running smoothly with my callers and interns. It gets a little exhausting after a while. This semester has been even more taxing because we are being extra tough on our callers to make sure they are prepared to call our top donors. I'm already ready for the end of April when the madness is over with... but I still have 22 weeks of calling to do. PHEW!

In my spare time I've been planning my Grandma's 90th Birthday Party! Only 3 weeks until that happens... EKKKKK! I have invited over 100 people so it has been a huge undertaking for me trying to organize RSVP's, get together all the things I need for the party, figuring out what food we're going to have, etc. Plus, I have been putting together a book full of 90 years of memories that friends and family have been sending in this past month. I'm really looking forward to the party and think it will be a big success... it just was a little more time consuming than I expected :)

So.... even though life on the blog may seem a little slow and boring... real life is quite the opposite! It's full speed ahead!

Running stats for the week of September 17th - September 23rd... What an absolute wash this week has been. I didn't run at all. Why? Because I was cooped up at work most days and nights. This is how I get so far behind in my running during this time of year... work gets crazy and I have to make choices on what things I can get done and what things I can't. Running just happens to be the one thing that usually gets pushed to the side because work and school are top priorities. I'll be happy if I keep running even a little bit throughout the winter.

Half Marathon... maybe I'll be running you next year.

Thankful Thursday (Fall)

Today I'm thankful for the change in season. I must say I think that Fall is right around the corner and I couldn't be more excited. I have found myself sleeping in layers at night (I get cold easily) and waking up to a freezing house in the morning time. I don't mind though because Remington snuggles up to me and keeps me warm most of the time.

Now I just have to wait for the leaves to start changing :)

A Real Life Episode of "World's Dumbest Criminal"

Dan enjoyed a real life episode of "World's Dumbest Criminal". This video made our local news, but it also went national! The price of fame ;)

Running stats for September 10th - September 16th... Remington and I sure have enjoyed ourselves this past week. My schedule was a little crazy so I had mornings off and was working late into the evening. This gave Remi and I some much needed bonding and walk time together... and I was also able to stick to my running schedule this week! HOORAY! There is nothing better than getting up in the morning and being able to walk and talk with the best dog in the whole world.

Thankful Thursday... 3 Days Late (Phonathon Training Over)

So, as you probably have noticed... I've been MIA most of last week and especially this week. Work has been crazy lately and I have been working weirdish hours...

But... today I'm thankful for making it through another semester of Phonathon Training and a week of working until 9 at night to make sure all my students have their jobs down perfectly! I have a great group of students this year with entertaining personalities :) Secretly I love them all!

So here's to getting this semester started off right and bringing in a ton of money!

Running stats for the week of September 3rd - September 9th... it hasn't been the best week of running for me because of Phonathon starting up. I have been up to my nose in scripts, manuals, training, etc. I'm not freaking out too much about it though because this was a recovery week for me in my training. I think the rest will do me good :)

Thankful Thursday (Finishing Interviews)

Today I'm thankful for almost being finished with interviews. In my job I hire 30-32 students to do Phonathon calling for the University. One of the hardest and most time consuming things I deal with is getting all those students hired.

In the past 2 weeks I have probably done over 100 interviews. Finally... today... I'm almost finished!

Now... I just need to get through this weekend of 8 hour Phonathon Training and I'll be home free ;)

Remington's Rundown

Hey Doodle Lovers! It's Remington Bear here!

One of my favorite places to go in the whole wide world is my Grandma and Grandpa Fowler's house!

Wanna know why?

Because of this!

They have a giant back yard!

When I go there Mom and Dad let me run free and it is the best!

Awwwww... fresh green soft grass! Way better than Mom and Dad's brown crusty dry grass!

Look how fast I can run!!!!

Also when I'm there I have enough room to play Frisbee! We don't have a big enough back yard at home and often times go to the park to do this... but when I'm at Grandma and Grandpa's house I don't have to go far!

Hey Dad! Wanna throw this for me!

Grandpa gets really impressed with my jumps!!

Got it!

Another thing I love about their house is all the cool plants they have!

Tomatoes!

A Roses Sharon bush!

This weird viney plant with tiny yellow flowers...

Pretty Petunias...

And these... don't know what they are... but I liked them!

I get so worked up and excited when I'm there that my giant tongue starts protruding from my mouth!

Mom says I need to put this thing away before I hurt someone!

Also, Grandma keeps special treats just for me in this Tupperware container!

CARROTS!

Sure Dad... I'll have one of those!

Yummy!

We also find cool little creatures outside! Mom and I found two of these recently!

Wooly Worms! Mom told me that whatever colors they are predicts what winter will be like. She couldn't remember what the colors meant exactly. O'well... I like being surprised!

I always hate leaving Grandma and Grandpa's house, but I know I'll be back soon!

They can't resist this Doodle Boy!

Time to sign off... WIGGLES!

Running stats for August 27th - September 2nd... This week has kind of sucked for my running. My shins, ankles, and knees have all been bothering me. I continue to stretch and ice religiously... but honestly I think what might help more than anything is a break. I hesitate to take one though for fear that I won't stay on track with my half marathon training plan. You know me... I've been known to do that almost every time when the going gets tough. I did add an unexpected rest day this week, but made sure to keep my long run day. This upcoming week will be focused on recovery runs in the training plan. I'm hoping if I can get through that then I'll feel a little bit better. As always, we'll see....
