Remington's Rundown

Hey Doodle Lovers! It's Remington Bear here!

Today I'm going to tell you about my search for a brand new toy!

I was so excited this week when something came in the mail for me!

It was a birthday postcard from Pet Supplies Plus with a coupon for a free toy! The card came a little late... but I was still impressed and super excited to go pick out my new toy!

Before I left the house I did a quick inventory of all my current toys to see what I might want.

So to the store we went... just Dad and me because Mom had to go to work for the day. She said something about how she had to help pay for my extravagant lifestyle.

We finally arrived at the store with all the toys! I thought maybe I could spot what I wanted through the window... but Dad told me that I would need to take a closer look when I got inside.

There were so many things to choose from!!!

There were bones, stuffies with squeakers, tennis balls, Frisbees...

... a whole isle of fun things to pick from! I just wasn't sure what I wanted!

I finally decided on another baby kong... I recently destroyed my last one and thought it needed replaced.

I couldn't wait to get home and chew on my new purchase! Let's go Dad!

Nom Nom Nom!

And that is how my search for a new toy went! Hopefully this kong will last me longer than a week! I seem to have figured out the secret to destroying them! WOOF!

Time to sign off... WIGGLES!

Mileage Monday

Running stats for the week of February 18th - February 24th... this week was a challenge for my legs. Even though many of my runs were shorter distances I did have a 6 miler and a 9 miler in the mix. Most days my legs felt like rubber!!! Also, I have been having trouble sleeping at night because when I lay down for bed my legs want to keep going... kind of like restless leg syndrome?? They just feel really twitchy and like they need to move! It's annoying! What is also annoying is winter time! I have decided that I'm finished with winter and ready for some warmer weather conditions... I even changed my blog look to hopefully encourage Spring to get here more quickly! But you know me... once Summer hits I'll be complaining about the hot humid temperatures :) You can never make me happy!

Club Mizuno

I finally did it! I joined the Mizuno Wave Rider Club!

I was adding up my mileage on my current pair of running shoes... did you know that you aren't suppose to go over 500 miles???

After a little calculating thanks to DailyMile.com, I realized I have over 400 miles on these babies!

With the high mileage I'll be running in the upcoming months because of my Mini Marathon training, I knew that new shoes were in my very near future.

I had been thinking about taking the Mizuno plunge for a while now because of all the great reviews I've read from other runners.

Don't get me wrong... I love my Nike Free Runs... but I wanted to try something a little different.

In the next couple of months I plan on slowly transitioning over. Starting out with a few short runs in the Mizuno's and then moving up to longer ones.

I hope I like them as much as other people or I'm going to be a little disappointed!

Remi wasn't sure which ones he liked best???

But after a little convincing decided these where his new favorites!

He did make me promise that I would take him on walks in my old pair!

I'll keep you posted on what I think of them :)

S.W.A.T Team Sniper

We are excited to announce that Dan was selected for the SWAT Team as their sniper!! How exciting!!!!!

He will be part of a four man sniper team with a commitment of 2 years in that position. He will do sniper qualifications, then basic sniper school that will last a week, and then eventually he will go to SWAT school.

We are so happy and proud of him and this new experience he is about to take on! This week he should be issued his new SWAT gear, but a lot of the details of what is on the horizon is still up in the air for the moment.

We will just be taking things in as they come! Congrats Dan! I can't wait to hear all your stories!

Mileage Monday

Running stats for the week of February 11th - February 17th... In the past my go to mileage for one run would have been 3 miles. That was comfortable for me and something that I found easy to accomplish. Recently, 3 miles isn't even in my training plan... it's all 5 miles or more now. After running a couple of 5 milers this week I came to realize that 5 miles is my go to mileage for one run. That is now what is comfortable for me and easy to accomplish. WOW! I feel so proud of myself!!!

I did have a little set back this week. One day, walking to my car on my way to lunch... I took a nasty fall. Pretty much what happened was my right shoe started to come off and I tried to catch myself with my left foot, which actually caused my left shoe to go flying out into the middle of the street. Long story short... I face planted in the middle of the road and actually had to walk down the street a little way to fetch my shoes! Talk about embarrassing! I was okay for the most part, but afterward I have noticed a little twinge of pain my my right foot when running. I'm sure it will go away, but I was careful not to push too hard because I really don't want to get a more serious injury before the Mini!

I need to be running four times a week, but have not yet fit that into my schedule.... three times has been my max so far. Next week is a recovery week with shorter distances each day, but more runs scheduled. We will see how it goes :)

Mileage Monday

Running stats for the week of February 4th - February 10th... I felt kind of blah at the beginning of the week... not sick... just not really great. I took it easy as much as I could and by the middle of the week I was feeling better. I missed my long run this week, but was happy that I got three solid 5 mile runs in. I wish warmer weather would come our way... but it doesn't look like that is going to happen yet! I'm starting to despise the treadmill!

Remington's 4th Birthday Celebration!

I would say that the biggest celebration in our household is Remington's Birthdays. Neither Dan or I are into extravagant parties for ourselves, but we try to give Remington a chance to enjoy himself on special occasions that involve him.

Before I let Remi take over and tell you about the festivities that were had this weekend, I must first say how blessed Dan and I are to have him in our lives. Yes, most people our age have children that they feel this way about... but to us Remington is our baby and the center of our world. We have enjoyed every moment we've gotten with him and never take his presence in our lives for granted. There is not a day that goes by that we don't feel thankful that he was chosen just for us... he is absolutely adored. It's hard to believe that 4 years have passed by and in that time frame he has grown from a 10lb puppy to an 80lb dog. Each day, when I look at him, I can only wish for 10 more years that he will be part of our lives... but for now we cherish every little moment we get to spend with this giant ball of fur! He is truly a very special dog and holds a huge part of our hearts in his paws!

Hey Doodle Lovers! It's Remington Bear here!

Big thanks to my Mom and Dad for all the love they give me... I'm one lucky Doodle! But enough of the mushy stuff... onto the fun!

So for my Birthday's Mom and Dad go all out! One of my favorite things is my giant bone birthday cakes they get me!!!

 Isn't it lovely!

Sniff sniff... it even smells good too!

I tried to sneak a quick bite in, but Mom said first they had to sing Happy Birthday too me!

After all the singing it was time to chow down!!!!!

"Hurry Momma! Cut that cake!"

 Yummy!

Later I got to open my present from Grandma and Grandpa!

They got me a blanket with paw prints all over it!!! COOL!

Mom tried to wrap me up in it... I would have none of that!

Awwwww... time to relax!

Mom and Dad got me a new memory foam crate pad for my crate! I'm so excited! It should come today! Perfect timing!!!

I had a great Birthday as always! Can't wait to see what next year brings!

Time to sign off... WIGGLES!
