Lawrence Community Safety Day

Every year the City of Lawrence puts on a Community Safety Day. Obviously it is to help educated the citizens about what their first responders do on a daily basis, but it is also to help build the relationship between the two. Lawrence can be a pretty rough area and the people who live there often have bad feelings toward police, fire, etc.

I have never missed a Community Safety Day because Dan is usually involved in it, but this was R-man's first! We debated on whether or not we would go because the weather was not great. But I knew he would enjoy seeing his Daddy there. So off we went. I so love to see these two together.

We got soaked by the rain, but had fun!

They say that police officer and pastor kids usually turn out the worse. This is one of my greatest fears. Having a little kids you have problems, but they are small problems. When they grow up you begin to deal with the bigger problems. I so hope that Roarke grows up to be a good citizen and makes this world better. I hope he grows up to be like his Daddy. He sure looks up to him right now at least. Let's hope that continues throughout his life.

Running/Biking stats for the weeks of August 1st - August 28th... Friends, I never meant to go this long without blogging... but it has been an interesting month to say the least that is for sure! It seems like one thing has happened after the other. The biggest obstacle we have faced is my Mom having a bicycle accident that put her in the hospital for a few days and a surgery to repair the damage in the upcoming week. That was extremely scary for me. I'm so thankful that it wasn't any worse.

In other news, my running has definitely slacked off and riding bikes has taken over. Because I have been riding a bike so much I started to develop pain in my wrists and hands. I have read this is pretty normal for novice riders to experience, but still very painful none the less. There were days that I could hardly hold my cup of coffee. During the week that it rained like crazy it was definitely a good break for my hands.

My birthday was this week and you know me I'm thinking about the changes I would like to make in the upcoming year. My main goal is to get back down to my pre-baby weight. This has been a huge struggle for me. I never thought getting the weight off would be this difficult, but its time to start really concentrating on doing so.

Ridin' with Roarke!

Roarke and I's new past time is bike riding! When we lived in town I would take him and Remi for a 2 or 3 mile walk every morning. When we moved I was kind of at a loss because I knew that stroller walks were probably not a possibility. I started looking for bike seats for sale online and boom! I found one for way cheap! Very dirty, but in good shape. We cleaned it up, bought R-man a new helmet, and hooked it up! Just like that we were off and taking adventures together every morning!

R-man hates his new helmet!

Ready for our maiden voyage!

You would think Roarke would smile just a little... of course not!

"Watch the road Momma!"

So far Roarke and I have loved exploring all the country roads that surround us! I love the fact that during an hour long bike ride we usually only see 1 car! We especially like stopping to look at chickens, horses, and cows! Love my little bike riding partner!
