Thankful Thursday (Friendship)

Today I'm thankful for friendships. They are so special to me. From the friends I've had throughout my entire life almost... to more recent ones. I adore the chats we have, the lunch/dinners we eat together, happy hours after work, and all the silly things we have done. All of my friends are very near and dear to my heart!

Friendships of any kind are wonderful!

Bright Lights???

Are the lights in your office space too bright?

Call Valesa at 1-800-DIM-LITE and she can help you out!

We are thankful for her expertise in this area!

Christmas with a Cop

I'm a little frustrated this year with getting Dan's Christmas gift. Every year is a challenge with him because he doesn't want normal guy things.

This year he wanted a 5.11 Fleece Tactical Jacket for his F.A.C.T Team call outs.

Basically, you buy it and then you patch them up with your departments logos. Dan was afraid with winter coming that they would run out of these soon, so he used some of his money allowance through work and bought it before Christmas. UHHHHGGGG!

Next on his wish list was.... Ammo... seriously...

If any of you know people who own weapons you also know how freakin' expensive ammunition is. I don't mind getting this for him for Christmas... but how un-Christmas like. YUCK!

Recently, he has been asking for a knife that he can use at work....

Okay... yes, this would be fine, but the man has about 5 other knives he has for work purposes!!! Why do I want to get him something that he already has.

Why can't I be married to someone who wants normal things!!!!

10 Year High School Reunion!

This past weekend I received a "save the date" invite through Facebook for my 10 Year High School Reunion! HOLY COW! Its seriously been 10 years since I graduated from high school! SCARY!

I have to admit I experienced mixed feelings about the invite. There was that of excitement with the idea of seeing so many of the people I grew up with and also that of anxiety because I haven't seen so many of these people in sooooo long. I can't help but wonder... "What will they think of me now?"

In high school I was a cheerleader and about 20 lbs lighter than I am today...

I had dreams of being a FBI agent, but ended up working in the world of fundraising...

I was more outgoing back then... however, now I'm much more introverted...

I had planned to have kids by age 24, but now I'm 28 and don't even know if I want them period...

People that I was extremely close to back then... I hardly even talk to now...

It's funny how things change. How people come in and out of your life. How the dreams you had at age 18 are no longer the same dreams you have today. How personalities and lifestyles are different than what you imagined.

Even though there is that feeling of nervousness associated with seeing people I haven't seen in 10 years it doesn't overcome the feeling of excitement I feel about reconnecting with the past. Yes, I have changed... but I bet everyone else has as well and that isn't such a bad thing :)

Running stats for the week of November 19th - November 25th... I don't have much to say for myself this week. I promised myself that I would keep up with my running this week even with the holiday.  Did I do it? Nope! However, I don't feel too worried just because I don't feel like I will have lost much of my endurance by not running for just a week.We will see!

Turkey Cookies!!!

So for Thanksgiving this year I decided to make Turkey Cookies! I figured it would be something fun for the kids to eat... okay... actually I just thought they were cute!

Turkey Cookies (www.bigsislilsis.com)

Ingredients:
  • 1 roll Pillsbury refrigerated sugar cookies
  • 1 container (16 oz.) chocolate creamy frosting
  • candy corn
  • orange and black decorating icing
  • Miniature M&M’s
Bake cookies as directed.

Put frosting into a resealable bag.  Cut a small hole in one of the corners of the bag and pipe frosting on the outer edge of each cookie.

Arrange candy corn on edge so they look like feathers.

Now make your turkey face. I used orange icing for the beak and black icing for the feet.

Use a small dot of the icing to attached the mini M&M's for the eyes.

There you go!!! Now you have turkeys that even a vegetarian can eat :)

Thankful Thursday (Thanksgiving)

Today I'm thankful for the opportunity to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with both sides of Dan and I's families. Usually Dan is working during this time of year and doesn't get to go anywhere. In cases like this, Remington and I usually just head to P-town and celebrate with my side of the family.

However, this year Dan took extra time off and we get to go to his sides festivities as well as my sides. YAY!

As you know, when the three musketeers get together... there is trouble to be had!!

And then of course there's Boo and all the shenanigans she creates!

Hope everyone else enjoys their Thanksgiving and time with their families. I know that Dan, Remington, and I will definitely enjoy ourselves :)

Mileage Monday

Running stats for the week of November 12th - November 18th... It was pretty cold at the beginning of the week, but warmed up a bit at the end. I feel like I can run so much longer and easier when I'm actually running outside instead of inside on a treadmill. I think its because I get so darn bored on that treadmill! I would much rather be taking in the views of the world!  I did my 3 miler outside at the beginning of the week and my other two runs on the weekend outside. I think I'm becoming more tolerant of the colder temperatures so that is something new :)

Thankful Thursday (Sidewalks)

Today I'm thankful for sidewalks.  This past weekend was gorgeous in our neck of the woods. I took full advantage of the weather by running and taking Remington on long walks. As I was doing these activities I couldn't help but think about how thankful I am for the sidewalks in our neighborhood which allow me to do these things.

There are several neighborhoods nearby me that don't have sidewalks. I run and even walk Remington through several of these neighborhoods, but I can't be nearly as carefree because I need to be so careful of cars zooming by.  Thank you sidewalks for allowing me to run to my hearts content and walk my sweet Remington without a worry in the world. We appreciate you!

Bumped!

Well, Dan was informed yesterday evening that at the beginning of January he will be bumped from working third shift (which we love) and moved to seconds (which I absolutely hate).  Even though it probably doesn't seem like a big deal to most people... I'm beyond upset!

When Dan first started working where he is now he was on second shift and it was a nightmare for us as a couple. We never got to see each other and often times I felt like I was juggling everything. Nights I would work late, I would have to book it home to feed and let the dog outside, then book it back to work to be with my Phonathon students during their shifts. I would eat dinner by myself most nights, watch our favorite TV shows by myself, and just pretty much live with and talk to the dog. It got pretty lonely.

When he was switched to third shift a year ago it was like the best thing ever!!! When I had to work late he would be there to take care of things at home, we could eat dinner together, walk the dog together, watch our shows together, and just be a normal married couple.

The thought of him being back on second shift again seriously makes me want to cry. It's gonna be another rough year for us and I'm not looking forward to it... AT ALL! We are in hopes that some more people will be hired on at the first of the year or possibly some people retiring and it will get him switched back to thirds. Everyone wish really hard that this happens :)

Remington's Rundown

Hey Doodle Lovers!  It's Remington Bear here!

What do you do on the last warm day of the year???

You play!

Can you believe that it was 70 degrees outside this past weekend... in NOVEMBER! It was awesome!

After we were all done playing Mom and I took our yearly picture in front of our giant mum. We took it a little late this year so the mum isn't nearly as pretty as usual... but I still liked it!

Time to sign off... WIGGLES!

First Snow

Today we had our first snow of the season. It didn't leave anything to remember it by on the ground...

but it sure was pretty to watch falling from the sky.

How do we go from almost 70 degrees this weekend to this on Monday??? It's Indiana at it's best!

Mileage Monday

Running stats for the week of November 5th - November 11th.... this week I decided that I was going to wait until the weekend to get all my running in. The weather was suppose to be awesome and I was trying to avoid the treadmill as much as possible. I got most of my running in, but dang... putting 10 miles on my legs in 3 days with no rest days in between. Definitely not the brightest idea.

Thankful Thursday (Life)

Today I'm thankful for life.  There are so many days I take this gift for granted. So many times that I wish a day would get over with. Or constantly wish for time to move by faster.

Even on those days that don't seem to be going very well I must remember to not wish my life away, but instead hold onto those moments because one day I may be wishing for that time back. The moments we have in life are precious... no matter how big, small, good, or bad they may seem at the time.

Mileage Monday

Running stats for the week of October 29th - November 4th... This week started the long season of treadmill runs. The weather is just to cold for me too run outside these days. Two to five mile runs on the treadmill are doable, but thinking about doing anything longer is a little mind numbing. I have felt pretty good with my runs this week though. Not too sore and feeling pretty strong. I'll continue to work my way up to longer runs... we'll see how that goes ;)
