Happy Easter!

We had a nice few weekends enjoying Easter related activities. I feel so thankful to experience these events with different members of my family and watch Roarke discover the world along the way. Enjoying these things with a child is definitely much more fun than without.

First, we went to Aspen Trace (my old work place) to participate in their Easter Egg Hunt! Well, actually we didn't hunt for eggs, but instead met the Easter Bunny and visited with some of my old residents.

No tears shed meeting the Easter Bunny!

Roarke loved his teeth...

And big ears!

Roarke also met his first real live bunny!

Auntie Katie lovin' on the Roarke-a-nator!

Love this little dude!

The next weekend Dan's family came to visit! Dan's Mom and Dad had been spending the last few months in Arizona so we were super excited to see them! Also, my sister-in-law, niece and nephew surprised us and came to visit as well! We had a full house, but enjoyed the company!

"I'm having company over, what should I wear!!!"

Elliott, Auntie Ali, Roarke, and Mallory!

B and Ips got Roarke a mule and cool cowboy hat!!

We all went to the Children's Museum one day! Roarke went down the chocolate slide with Auntie Ali!

The Easter Bunny brought Roarke lots of goodies... unfortunately he was not impressed!

On Sunday the weather was great and we made our way to a park nearby. Roarke was not a fan of the grass!

We have been busy busy busy lately! It was nice to take some time to enjoy the little things which usually end up being the most important things. Hope everyone had an amazing Easter! We are looking forward to the warm weather sticking around and enjoying the summertime!

Running stats for the week of March 21st - March 27th... This past week was a busy one. We have several things going on that I hope to update you on soon. We also had Dan's family visiting this past weekend and we were able to enjoy lots of memory making moments together.

Between everything going on I was able to get some runs in, but unfortunately didn't do any type of strength training activities, which is what I really need to be focusing on to tone things up. However, I will take what I can get and try to do better in the weeks to come.

Running stats for the week of March 14th - March 20th... Too many rest days this week and not enough workouts. I've been trying to set goals of how many days a week I want to run and do strength training. So far I have not been hitting them. I am however feeling more in shape and that is something. All I can do is continue to push myself a little more each week :) Ready for summer to get here and stay here!

Running stats for the week of March 7th - March 13th... Our family did pretty great when it came to getting outside this week. It's been so nice to actually have Dan home with us in the evening so that we all can walk together as a family. I just love doing that.

Daylight Savings time arrived on Sunday, which you know I've always been a huge fan of. Remi and I kicked it off by taking a stroll together after 7:00pm! Oh how I missed getting out in the evening because none of us are morning people. However, I might now have a love hate relationship with the time change because now when I put Roarke to bed at night it is still daylight out. So far he hasn't struggled at all with the switch, but I worry as the days get longer and longer and it is light out at 9:00pm that we might have more of an issue. I know that the kids in our neighborhood will be out and about later causing a ruckus. We will have to wait and see I suppose.

I have been slowly losing a little bit of my baby weight... but the "mom belly" remains, which I absolutely hate. I can feel my muscles under there, but that layer of lose skin and flab are holding on strong. Sigh... I've read multiple places that when you have a C-section it is much more difficult to pull your body back together because of them cutting through the muscles. How annoying...

Week #39

Roarke

Weight: 16 lbs 7 oz

Height: 26 1/2 inches

Head Size: 18 inches

9 month check up: With Dan switching to 1st shift meant that I would be taking Roarke to his appointment by myself this week. It wasn't a huge deal. Roarke and I go places just the two of us quite often, but man I missed having Dan there to help with all the juggling. When we got to the doctors office I went into high germ alert mode. It was packed with people coughing, kids holding puke buckets, people with masks on! Uhhhhgggggg.... I'm not usually too concerned about germs or what not, but I took Roarke to the farthest corner to try to keep him away from any floating pathogens. The appointment went well. R-man is gaining weight well and growing. He is only in the 5th percentile, but the doctor said it was nothing to worry about and he is probably just gonna be a little fella. He is hitting most of his milestones... sitting up on his own, pulling up on things, saying Dada, etc. They asked if he was clapping and waving yet (which he isn't)... so we are working on that now. No shots this appointment which is always a good thing. Doctor said he just seems to be a happy growing boy! Yay for that!

"Let's hit the road Mom!"

In terms of daily life, Roarke is no longer breastfeeding. I'm hardly producing milk anymore and he is too busy to concentrate on breastfeeding for long. Personally, I'm fine with it. I actually feel like I have my life back which is nice. I do have a supply of breastmilk stored up so he will be able to have some of that daily, plus formula. He is now sitting up all by himself and can balance himself nicely so I don't worry about him falling over. We had to lower his crib this past week because he started to pull himself up. It won't be long before he is toddling around. YIKES! Roarke in now majorly into the interactive toys. Anything that moves, makes sounds, has things you can flip/turn/crank! Our house looks like a giant toy box and is full of constant noise. Remi is exhausted and takes full advantage of the times when Roarke is napping for sleep and cuddles with Dan and myself. Roarke loves to click his tongue and have other people do it back to him. He baby talks in these loud high pitch voices. We love being outside in the nicer weather and talking about things we see. He is my little adventure buddy and I have been enjoying showing him the world around him.

Running stats for the week of February 29th - March 6th... If you recall I fell down the stairs last week and I'm still sore this week. I don't really notice it except when I'm doing ab exercises or sitting on the floor. My tailbone is just very tender still. I'm just not as young as I use to be! HAHA! So I have been modifying some of my ab exercises for right now.

Big news for this week was that the jogging stroller arrived and I love it! I mean... LOVE LOVE LOVE it! My first thought when I tried it out was why didn't we get one of these a long time ago. The ride is so much smoother for Roarke! In our old stroller every tiny bump you hit was like an earthquake for the R-man. If I saw an uneven piece of pavement I would have to completely stop walking to go over it. And running... impossible in that stroller. With this stroller I can walk and run with no problems at all and R-man could probably sleep during our trips they are so smooth... however... he would never want to do that because our outings are pretty exciting! I'm looking forward to many more runs together with my little R-man.

I compare running with a stroller pretty much like running on a treadmill. The only thing I really noticed that is a BIG difference is going up hills... PHEW! It is a workout! The below picture Roarke is wondering if his Momma is okay because I was huffing and puffing so much. Let's just put it out there... I'm out of shape!
