The SWAT Team that Dan is on has been in the process of getting a vehicle to transport team members from call to call. Just last week after being on a waiting list for several months they received the news that the military was transferring a vehicle to the LPD from Texas. WOOHOO!
The MRAP is gigantic! It is designed to be able to drive over land mines and resist the blast. It has two inch armor plated walls, windows, and doors to resist impact from large caliber rifles. Thankfully this was donated to the department because otherwise it would have cost them over $700,000! WHOA! Yes, this might be a little bit of overkill, but this is a huge upgrade from the previous vehicle they had!
The SWAT Team is overly excited about this BEAST! Boys and their toys... sigh!
