Thankful Thursday (Fresh Air)

Today I'm thankful for fresh air! PHEW! This past week Dan and I have been battling an issue with our house. For some reason on Sunday night we started smelling this very strong sulfur type odor in our bathrooms. Weird right? The smell would come and go and we could not for the life of us figure out what was causing it?

Smell?  What smell?

We called the company that installed our water softener thinking it had something to do with that.  They told us there was no problem and nothing about the softener would cause a smell like that.  Then my Dad told us to flush our water heater... we did and still the smell continued. Finally, I told Dan to go and talk to the neighbors because maybe we had a sewer line break that was causing the smell.  He did and no one was dealing with the issue that we were, but one of the neighbors did tell Dan what he thought might be causing it because he had the same problem once.

Basically, if you have a drain that is not used very often... for example our guest bathtub is hardly ever used except when we have company... that the water that is left in there will start to develop bacteria which will cause a smell.  He told us to flush it with vinegar and then run really hot water down it.

TADA!  Guess what! No more smell! Worked like a charm!  I can now breathe fresh air again!
